Hello and welcome, my name is Justin and I am fully qualified as a DVSA driving instructor (ADI) based in Glastonbury with up to date DBS (CRB) Check

After extensive training I qualified in June 2021 and have been working full time independently to help local people get behind the wheel, safely learn to drive and eventually pass their driving tests!

Having come from a training background in the laboratory industry I can easily put people at ease and change my teaching style to suit each person. I understand for some that driving a car on the road is a scary thought, but I take things very easily to begin and advance the training to tailer you and will never rush or hold you back depending on your shown needs. I will be as flexible with you as I can and use a driving app to show next lesson, progress report, payment records and resources to help with your driving journey.

I tailer each student with a plan of action that will prepare them for their test and drive safely on the roads after this. I use diagrams & books to help with visuals along with videos in your driving app.

I offer manual driving lessons in a 10-mile radius of Glastonbury and can be flexible with times depending on your availability. You must have a provisional licence and be 17 or over (you are never too old to learn!)

I am here to support all types of learners:

  • If you have no experience or never driven before I can help on the first lesson and build confidence
  • You might be very nervous or have additional needs
  • Your previous experience may have been bad or traumatic
  • You might be looking at refresher lessons having not driven for a while or for many years

I will help support you from the first lesson to the last with a calm approach and make driving enjoyable and safe. Safety is the top priority for learning to drive as statistically 17 – 25-year-olds are more likely than any other age group to die on our roads. As a driving instructor I take my responsibility of teaching people to drive very seriously.

Recent research has showed that Passive learning (being told what to do on lessons) isn’t the best way to produce safe drivers. My training has been done with Active learning making sure you “think” about what is happening ahead and can deal with what you see independently. Being an active learner makes you take more responsibility for your driving, solving problems on the go and making you a safe driver for life.

Some people will pass sooner than others as we are all different in our learning ability. For me I need to make sure you are a competent driver and have the 5 skills needed to drive safely:

  1. Awareness
  2. Planning
  3. Anticipation
  4. Car control
  5. Judgement

Frequently asked questions:

Q – How long will it take to pass my test?
A – The DVSA currently recommend around 45 hours of professional driving lessons and a further 22 hours of private practice to learn how to drive. This will differ with each student, but we will aim to get you to a high standard to take your test. During our lessons I can evaluate your abilities and give honest opinions throughout our learning journey.

Q – My Mum/Dad said the test is easy so I should be ok in 10 hours
A – Over the years and probably since your mum/dad took their test the road layouts have become a lot more complex. The traffic on our roads is increasing all the time and everyday driving can be a challenge. To pass your test you will have to be able to deal with all of this with part of your test being independent (using a Sat-Nav or being asked to follow road signs)

Q – How much are lessons
A – I can send you my current price list when enquiring.

Q – What areas do you cover
A – I work within a 10-mile radius of Glastonbury, Somerset

Q – Can I practice with a family member
A – Yes, but they need to meet all the legal requirements: They must be 21 years or over, must have held a valid UK driving licence for 3 or more years & they must follow the same rules as if they were driving. You must also have a visible L Plate on the front and rear of your car, it must have tax, an MOT and be legal and roadworthy. You will also need appropriate insurance.

Can’t recommend Justin enough

Justin’s the kindest instructor you could ask for. Seems to always figure out what you need to learn as fast as possible. Really supportive on the day of my test and goes above and beyond when necessary

Absolutely would recommend Justin

Without hesitation a 5* instructor. From the first lesson with Justin was very in tune with my skill level and added in difficulty to get me out of my comfort zone and to a point of growth, and he towed this line skillfully so that I never felt out of my depth. Justin was willing to let me make mistakes so I fully understood what not to do, and switched up lessons on the go to make sure I was a well rounded driver. He has the perfect balance of calmness, positivity, listening skills, knowledge, and investment in his students to make him a fantastic instructor and I feel very lucky to have been his student!
